What happened? Just the other day you were saying you wouldn’t be able to deliver frames for 12 to 15 weeks. Discussions were taking place in the background. We made some calls. We talked to some people. We pleaded. We made some threats. We twisted some arms. We rolled some dice.

The lead time was too long and we were getting squeezed by our frame builder to order more frames, which for a year old business was pretty tricky. So we actually have another supplier. Samples are en route now. Everything stays the same, it’s just a different team of brazers making the frames. We’re not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet  because there are still discussions taking place and these are very exciting ones. Basically from the start of 2015 we aim to be offering a full custom frame service. At present it’s true that each frame is built just for the customer based around our stock model. What we will be doing is offering full custom geometry and sizing and a wide selection of tubing including Columbus to choose from.

The important bit for now though is that the turnaround time is about four weeks for a Yeats or Orwell model in all sizes. So orders placed pretty quickly can even be fulfilled before Christmas.

We’re still updating all the info on the website so if you wanted something from the archives or custom, even the mixte ladies frame, then drop me an email at james@8ballbikes.co.uk and I’ll do my best to sort you out.

Why not book a workshop experience while you’re at it, it’s a great gift idea, and come to the workshop to build the bike yourself and learn how to maintain it too.
